Exploring Angles for Oracle-Generator for Microsoft Power BI

Overview

This chapter provides information about the Angles for Oracle Generator user interface and how the metadata for NoetixViews, Noetix Analytics, and RapidDecision is organized in the presentation layer of the Angles for Oracle Generator.

This section contains annotated screenshots of the Angles for Oracle Generator user interface.

  1. File menu: Displays the Edit Filters, Close, Save, and Exit commands.
  2. Data source list: Enables you to view the NoetixViews, Noetix Analytics, or RapidDecision data source that you selected when you accessed the (Undefined variable: General.ProductShortName). You can select a different data source from the list to load the corresponding metadata.
  3. Left pane: Displays the NoetixViews, Noetix Analytics, or RapidDecision metadata objects in a tree structure. You can expand the folders to display the NoetixViews columns, or Noetix Analytics or RapidDecision relationship sets, field definition folders, and fields. You can right-click in the left pane to access the Expand All, Collapse All, Unselect All commands on the shortcut menu.
  4. Right pane: Displays the entity-relationship diagram (ERD) for the selected metadata objects. Information about the answers and applied filters is also displayed. An answer icon is available for the Noetix view, and a filter icon appears on the object corresponding to a NoetixViews, Noetix Analytics, or RapidDecision table when one or more filters are applied to the view or table.
  5. ERD: Shows a Venn diagram that is used to indicate the type of join that can be made among the selected metadata objects. The join type can be left outer join, right outer join, or inner join.
  6. Bottom pane: Displays the description of the current metadata object. You can move the pointer over an object to display the description of the object.
  7. DirectQuery: Indicates the DirectQuery data connectivity mode of Microsoft Power BI. Select this option to create the interactive report templates in the DirectQuery data connectivity mode, and clear this option to create the interactive report templates in Import data connectivity mode. For information about how to decide the correct data connectivity mode for your data source, see the "Usage Guidelines" section in Introduction.
  8. Include Parameters: Allows you to include parameters in the interactive report template.
  9. Edit: Allows you to configure the parameters that you want to include in the interactive report template.
  10. Generate Answers: Generates interactive report templates based on the answers available in the view. This option is available only if the selected view contains answers.
  11. The Include Parameters, Edit, and Generate Answers options are available only when you do not select the DirectQuery option for your NoetixViews data source. For more information about Include Parameters, Edit, and Generate Answers, see the "Create Interactive Report Templates" section in Working with Angles for Oracle Generator for Microsoft Power BI.

  12. Edit Filter: Enables you to specify the data filters for the selected NoetixViews columns or Noetix Analytics and RapidDecision fields in the Data Filters window.
  13. Save: Allows you to save the selected metadata objects in an interactive report template file.
