Option 1: Regenerate Using NoetixViews Administrator

Regenerating views using the NoetixViews Administrator involves walking through a short series of wizards in the application used to administer NoetixViews. The steps you follow are very similar to the steps used when initially generating NoetixViews.

This regeneration method is performed using a Microsoft Windows-based client computer, usually the administrator’s, where NoetixViews Administrator has been installed. If this computer does not already have NoetixViews Administrator installed, see Install the Software on Windows in “Installing Noetix Views.” for information about how to install this software.

Generally, during regeneration of views, only Stages 2 through 4 are run. However, on a Windows-based computer, you can run Stage 1 by using the install1.sql script available in the NOETIX SYS schema installation to modify tablespace settings or grant the SELECT ANY TABLE and SELECT ANY DICTIONARY privileges to the Noetix System Administration User account. For information about script-based regeneration of Noetix views, see Option 1: Regenerate Using NoetixViews Administrator.

After upgrading NoetixViews to version 6.5 from version 6.2 or later, if you have upgraded Oracle E-Business Suite to Release 12.2.3 or later, for the first regeneration, you must run the install1.sql script using the values provided during the generation. You do not need to run the install1.sql script again for subsequent upgrades of Oracle E-Business Suite.

To regenerate Noetix views using NoetixViews Administrator

Log on to the NoetixViews Administrator as your existing Noetix System Administration User account: For information, see Pregeneration Considerations in “Generation of Views.”

Refresh generation scripts: When regenerating after the NoetixViews configuration has changed, the NoetixViews Administrator can confirm that the collection of scripts in the NOETIX SYS user directory is appropriate for the NoetixViews version being implemented. On the Tools menu, click Support > Refresh Scripts to accomplish this task. This displays information regarding the version number of the scripts located within your NOETIX SYS user directory.

Complete Stages 2, 3, and 4 of the generation process: Run Stages Pregeneration Considerations, Pregeneration Considerations, and Pregeneration Considerations of the views generation process. During Stage 4 of the regeneration of views, NoetixViews Administrator will detect the previous settings and give you the option to reuse them in the current generation. Settings include role prefixes and Noetix query users. To use the existing settings from the database, select Yes on the displayed wizard page. Do not select No unless directed byinsightsoftwareSupport, or if you want to replace the role prefixes in the database with the ones saved in the tupdprfx.sql file in the NOETIX SYS user directory. For more information about the stages of the generation process, see Pregeneration Considerations in “Generation of Views.”

Please note that if you change a role prefix, any reports written against Noetix views within that role will break. Also, changing the multi-currency option during a regeneration of views impacts reports written against the views for Oracle Projects. If any errors are detected in Stage 4, the Noetix Help File will not be regenerated. As a workaround, after completing Stage 4, you must first run the ifix4sts.sql script to override Stage 4 errors, and then manually regenerate the Noetix Help File. The ifix4sts.sql script is located in your NOETIX SYS user directory (by default, <installation folder>\Noetix Corporation\NoetixViews\Installs\<NOETIX SYS TNS>).

Check creation of concurrent programs: If there are any issues with the creation of concurrent programs, a warning message will be displayed stating that the concurrent program creation has been completed with errors. You need to resolve the warnings or issues listed in the Listerrors cm.lst file. Then, connect to the database through SQL*Plus as the Noetix System Administration User, and run the wnoetx conc pgm create.sql script. The missing concurrent programs will be created. If you need assistance in resolving the issues or running the script, contact insightsoftwareSupport.

Run the listchng script (optional): This will create a file showing differences between your previous and new generations.

start listchng.sql

These changes will be contained in the listchng.lst file.

Regenerate answers: You will need to rerun the Noetix Answer Builder. After successfully running the Noetix Answer Builder, use the Noetix generators to update your answers, as well as to generate your query user data into the meta-layers of the business intelligence (BI) tools. For more information, see Option 1: Regenerate Using NoetixViews Administrator.

Regenerate the Noetix Help File: You will need to regenerate your Noetix Help File so it will reflect your updated generation. For information about generating and distributing the Noetix Help File, see Option 1: Regenerate Using NoetixViews Administrator.

Update query tools (if needed): Refer to your query tool documentation to see if your tools or their meta-layers need to be updated. If you are using Angles for Oracle Generator for Oracle Discoverer (Angles for Oracle Generator) in conjunction with Oracle Discoverer, you will need to extract views as described in the Angles for Oracle Generator for Oracle Discoverer Administrator Guide to update your End User Layer (EUL).
