Export Customizations for Backup

The export feature of the NoetixViews Workbench can be used to export all customizations of an environment or a custom package for backup or for use in another

IMPORTANT: Before you proceed, make sure that there are no pending customizations in the NoetixViews schema that are yet to be captured.

To export customizations for backup

  1. On the NoetixViews Workbench home page, clickExport/Import. TheExport-Import » Choose Optionspage appears.

  2. Click Export my customizations for backup. The options for exporting all your customizations or one package for backup appear.

  3. To export all customizations, do the following:

    1. Click All my customizations.

    2. Select theInclude all revisions of each customization check box if you want to export all revisions of each managed view in your customizations. Do not select the check box if you want to export only the original and latest revisions of each managed view in your customizations. Go to step 5.

  4. To export a custom package, do the following:

    1. Click Just one package.

    2. Select theInclude all revisions of each customization check box if you want to export all revisions of each managed view in your package. Do not select the check box if you want to export only the original and latest revisions of each managed view in your package.

    3. Click Next. The Export-Import » Select Packagepage appears.

    4. In the list of packages, click a custom package. The views available in the package are displayed in the Views in '<package>'section. The list that displays the package details has the following columns:

      • Name:Indicates the name of the package.

      • Description:Indicates the description of the package.

      • # Views:Indicates the number of views available in the package.

      NOTE: If you want to sort the list on the basis of a column, click the column label.

    5. Click Next. The Export-Import » Choose Scripts page appears. Do the following:

      1. If you do not want to export the role prefix configuration settings, clear the Role prefix configuration check box. By default, the check box is selected.

      2. In the Optional hookscript (all are recommended) list, clear the check boxes corresponding to the hook scripts that you do not want to export. By default, all the scripts are selected. The hook scripts displayed in the list contain settings that are specific to a NoetixViews schema. These hook scripts store configuration-specific settings, and therefore, they are not included in the legacy package when legacy customizations are captured. However, insigihtsoftwarerecommends that you select these hook scripts if you want to use the same configuration settings in another environment.

  5. Click Next. The Export-Import » Capture Scriptspage appears.

  6. Click Browse to locate the .zip file created for the NoetixViews schema installation folder, and then, click Upload toupload the file to the server. A message appears stating that the file has been successfully uploaded to the server.

  7. Click Next. The Export-Import » Summarypage appears.

  8. Review the information displayed on the page, and click Export.

  9. When you are prompted to open or save the compressed file, save the file.

  10. Click Done or Home to return to the NoetixViews Workbench home page.
