Capturing Legacy Customizations

To manage legacy customizations through the NoetixViews Workbench, you must make sure that they are compatible with your version of NoetixViews. Before managing any new customizations, you need to perform the following tasks:

  1. Run Stage 4 to apply any pending customizations that need to be applied to the NoetixViews schema.
  2. Capture the legacy customizations.

If Stage 4 has failed, you may still be able to access the environment to modify the views and capture legacy customizations. The environment can be accessed if the N APPLICATION OWNERS table contains records, and the CURRENT CHECKPOINT LABEL column in the N VIEW PARAMETERS table returns the INSTALL COMPLETE, META DATA LOAD, or POST VIEW CREATE value. For assistance with these tasks, contact insightsoftwareSupport.

Whenever new legacy customizations are available in your NoetixViews instance, you need to capture them. If you do not want to capture them, they will be overwritten when the customizations in the legacy package are applied to the NoetixViews schema.

To capture legacy customizations

  1. Select an environment corresponding to a NoetixViews schema, validate the schema credentials, and go to step 3. For information, see Selecting an Environment in "Working with Environments."

  2. If you select an environment as soon as you register it, and attempt to perform any task, a dialog box will be displayed stating that you must capture legacy customizations of your NoetixViews schema before performing any task in the environment. Do the following:

    1. In the dialog box, click the Click here to capture your legacy customizations link. The Advanced » Capture Legacy Customizations page appears.

    2. IMPORTANT: If you want to capture the legacy customizations later, click OK to close the dialog box. However, you can use the environment only after performing the tasks described in steps 2b through 2d.

    3. If there are any legacy customizations that you want to capture, go to step 5; otherwise, perform the task described in step 2c.

    4. Under Do you have any legacy customizations for '<environment name>', click No, and click Next. A message appears stating that your environment is ready to be used. If Stage 4 has been run, the message states that you can now modify views or add views because Stage 4 is complete for your NoetixViews schema; otherwise, the message prompts you to run Stage 4 before using the environment.

    5. Click Home or Done to go to the NoetixViews Workbench home page and start using the environment.

  3. On the NoetixViews Workbench home page, click Advanced. The Advanced» Choose Options page appears with the following options:

    • Capture Legacy Customizations
