Switching Responsibilities in BI Tools

An Oracle E-Business Suite user can be assigned with multiple Oracle General Ledger and Oracle Human Resource Management System (HRMS) responsibilities to which security rules and security profiles are attached respectively in Oracle E-Business Suite. After setting up this user as a Noetix query user, when the Noetix query user or a business intelligence (BI) tool user who is linked to this Noetix query user queries data from Noetix views for General Ledger and HRMS through a BI tool, the data returned is further filtered based on the responsibility with which the user logs on.

In BI tools, such as Noetix WebQuery (NWQ) and Oracle Discoverer, Noetix query users set up for Oracle
E-Business Suite users can log on to the BI tools by selecting a responsibility associated with the user. After logging on, if the users want to select a different responsibility, they have to log off from the current session and then log on again with the required responsibility.

In BI tools, such as Oracle Business Intelligence (Oracle BI), IBM Cognos Business Intelligence (Cognos BI), and SAP BusinessObjects, BI tool users log on with the responsibility associated with the Noetix query user set up for the Oracle E-Business Suite user to which they are linked. After logging on, if the BI tool users want to select a different responsibility, they can run Noetix Responsibility Tool to change the responsibility. With Noetix Responsibility Tool, BI tool users can change the responsibility with which they have logged on to the BI tool without logging off from the current user session.

Noetix Responsibility Tool

Noetix Responsibility Tool is a Web-based application that can be deployed on a standalone Web server or on the Web server where Oracle BI, Cognos BI, or BusinessObjects is running. Users can access this application directly through a Web browser using the application's URL or from a link provided within a BI tool if it is embedded into the BI tool.

Noetix Responsibility Tool allows you to do the following:

Use an Oracle BI, Cognos BI, or SAP BusinessObjects instance created in Noetix Views Administrator (NoetixViews Administrator) to register an Oracle BI, Cognos BI, or BusinessObjects user by linking the user to an Oracle E-Business Suite user who has been added as a Noetix query user in a NOETIX SYS schema. As part of the registration process, the application also allows you to specify a responsibility for the Oracle E-Business Suite user that will be associated with the Oracle BI, Cognos BI, or BusinessObjects user.

Change the Oracle E-Business Suite responsibility for a registered Oracle BI, Cognos BI, or BusinessObjects user when running reports against the Noetix views for General Ledger and HRMS.
