Scheduling Upgrades and Configuring Notifications

Introduction

When a system upgrade or scheduled maintenance is approaching, a notification banner is displayed prominently at the top of every page within the Hub, ensuring critical updates are never missed. The banner rotates between multiple notifications at five-second intervals when more than one alert is active, displaying both upgrade and maintenance announcements. Each notification includes a See Details button that reveals comprehensive information.

For Upgrades

  • Version number

  • Scheduled date and time

  • New features (What's new)

  • Fixed issues

For Maintenance

  • Start and end times

  • Affected services

This visible, always-accessible notification system ensures you stay informed about upcoming changes while maintaining full flexibility to schedule upgrades at times that align with your business needs.

Schedule upgrades

Before scheduling upgrades in the Angles Hub, ensure that the following prerequisites are met.

  • Administrator access to the Hub

  • Active notification for an upcoming upgrade

To schedule upgrades, sign in to the Angles Hub and perform the following:

  1. Go to Administrator > Hub VersionĀ Upgrade. The Hub Version Upgrade tab is displayed.

    The Version Upgrade Scheduler displays the current version of the Angles Hub.

    In the Default Schedule section, you can view the version set for installation, the scheduled date and time for deployment by the Angles Hub team, and the current status of the schedule, indicating whether it is active.

  2. In the Schedule Controls section > Scheduled Date, select the date picker to open the calender and select the required date.

    The selected date is automatically displayed in the Date field of the Preferred Schedule.

    Note: For Releases: Date must be within thirty days of the default schedule date.

    For Patches: Date must be within seven days of the default schedule date.

  3. In the Schedule Controls > Scheduled Time, select the time picker to open the time selection dropdown and select the required time.

    The selected time is automatically displayed in the Time field of the Preferred Schedule.

    Note: The time zone is set to UTC by default and cannot be changed by the user

  4. Select Save Schedule.

    The status indicator updates to show Preferred Schedule as active.

    The Default Schedule remains visible but becomes inactive.

Configure Email Notification Recipients

In Notify Email section, you can configure who receives email notifications about upgrades and maintenance.

To set up notification recipients, perform the following steps:

  1. Select the dropdown menu in the Notify Email section. A list of available Angles Hub users appears with their email addresses

  2. Select individual users to add them to the notification list and then select Save Notify Emails.

  3. Click Eye icon to view the selected recipients.

  4. To remove a single recipient, locate the recipient in the selected list and click the delete or remove icon next to their email address.

    To remove all recipients, select the Clear All button and confirm the action if prompted.

    To revert to the previous email configuration, select Reset button.

  5. After making all desired changes to the recipient list, Download Release Notes select the Update or Save Notify Emails button.

    Note: The Update and Save Notify Emails buttons become active only when email changes, such as additions or deletions, are made in the Hub.

Upgrade History

  1. In the Upgrade History section, you can view all the past and scheduled upgrades.

  2. Upgrade History table displays the following information:

    • Version:Specifies the current version of the Angles Hub.

    • Upgrade Status: Reflects the current state of the upgrade process (For example, Scheduled, Completed).

    • Upgrade Start: Timestamp indicating when the upgrade began. For scheduled upgrades, this field will display N/A.

    • Upgrade End:Timestamp indicating when the upgrade was completed. For scheduled upgrades, this field will display N/A.

    • Scheduled By: Identifies the system or user who initiated the upgrade. Initially set to System by default.

  3. To view the Release Notes, go to the Actions column in the Upgrade History section and select the View Release Notes option.

    To download the Release Notes, go to the Actions column in the Upgrade History section and select the option.

    If release notes are not available for a version, the system displays Not available for the current version.

    Release notes are typically available for:

    • All completed upgrades

    • Scheduled upgrades (upcoming versions)

Access and Manage Notifications

  1. Select bell icon (available on the top-right corner). The Notifications page is opened.

  2. The Notifications page displays all active (unexpired) notifications.

  3. Each notification shows:

    • Title: Brief description of the notification

    • Type: Upgrade or Maintenance

    • Received Date: When the notification was issued

    • Context: Brief summary of the notification

    Notifications are displayed in reverse chronological order (newest first).

  4. Using the Filter by Type option, you can view upgrade notifications, maintenance notifications, or both simultaneously.

  5. Select Show More to expand the notification. The full notification content displays, including:

    • Complete description

    • All relevant dates and times

    • Detailed impact information

    Select Show Less to collapse the notification

  6. Select the Download button at the top of the Notifications page.

  7. Select your preferred format from the four available options:

    • Text (.txt)

    • CSV (.csv)

    • JSON (.json)

    • Excel (.xlsx)

  8. The complete notification history downloads, including:

    • Expired notifications (older than 7 days)

    • Active notifications (current)

Upgrade notifications expire seven days after being issued, while maintenance notifications expire at the designated maintenance end time. Expired notifications do not appear on the Notifications page but are included in downloaded history.
